Do you know where the rain in Spain stays? Mainly in the NORTH. But luckily just in the afternoon. The view from our room at our B&B outside of Santander is gorgeous either way:
We are learning to live like the locals – lunch at 3:30, dinner at 10. Ellie and Jeff don’t seem to mind:
Tomorrow, a stroll down memory lane…..
Cause Mr. Big Shot MBA couldnt calculate the proper exchange rate in his jet lag induced fog, so i tipped him the equivalent of Spain’s GDP circa 1982. Oh well c’est la vie. Thats Spanish, right?
We had a great day today exploring the beautiful city of Madrid! We went to a wonderful art museum with great paintings by artists like Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and more! We also had a great time at a playground outside a beautiful castle! The playground had different things than a normal playground such as a cool rope part you can climb across and a pole with tubes sticking out of it so you can climb the tubes to the top! Even with all of that fun, the whole family felt like zombies from jet lag. Tomorrow, we hope we fully recover as we head to moms old dig sight in Santander!
Lemons: our austin flight was delayed 7 hours today due to two missing half inch screws. So we missed our newark-Madrid connection.
Lemonade: now we all get to spend tomorrow in nyc! Central Park, Statue of Liberty, meet my buddy Wayne for lunch, and most importantly… Room service! Then off to Madrid tomorrow night. Adapt, survive, and thrive!!!

I can’t believe there are only 3 days left! I’m getting so excited and nervous! I can’t wait!

It feels like just yesterday that Jeff came home and said to me, “I have a WILD idea…” 9 months and many guide books later, we are on the brink of the adventure of a lifetime! So many different emotions right now – excitement and nervousness predominating for most of us. We’ve said most of our goodbyes and now we are finishing the last details before our flight leaves on Wednesday. I was hoping to feel more in control and calm at this point in our preparations, but things don’t always work out that way:) We’ve had relatives in the emergency room, hospital, lost internet and phone at home for 2 weeks, and trips to Michigan, Tennessee, Las Vegas and Arlington in the last 3 weeks. We’ve been going a mile a minute. We are now kicking it into high gear so that, if everything comes together, we can get a good night’s sleep Tuesday night:)
